>Fall FRUN 10K Race Recap: 20 Miles Shorter Than NYCM and Less Crowded

>Today was the inaugural Fall FRUN 10K. It was a beautiful day and the race itself was very well run (no pun intended, of course) — another stellar performance by ARE Event Productions

10Ks are somewhat hard to come by in this area so I was happy to find this one, although I felt like a total wimp when 47,000+ others were running the INGNYCM. But, I digress.

Final time: 53:57 (PR)/average pace: 8:41/7th in age division

I’m pretty satisfied with this time since my last 10K in September was a complete mess. I thought it was a fantastic idea the night before that race to have a BBQ and indulge in a burger and other BBQey things. NOT. A. GOOD. IDEA. I knew it was going to come back and bite me in the butt (all these puns!) and well, it did. I felt disgusting going into it, through it, and after. Although I beat my time from the same race last year, it was painful. I will never make another poor nutrition choice before a race again!

Congrats to all of you who ran today’s marathon – or any other marathon for that matter. It’s amazing what the human body is capable of and, mentally, how far we can push ourselves. Maybe I’ll see you next year if Mary Wittenberg decides to let me in!
