>Now, for the formal introduction…

>Thank you for stopping by Sassphalt Runner to learn more about me and my running (mis)adventures. I was inspired to start my own blog after reading many of your own personal, true life stories. This is a great way for me to hold myself accountable to well, myself, and to not only document my training but to also share my little corner of the world with you…and Steve Martin. (Read #9 under “About Me” and you’ll understand)

Why “Sassphalt Runner”?

I know, I know. Crazy blog name, right? I knew I wanted to come up with a play on words of sorts and this is the first name that popped into my head. Actually, it describes my personality and running habits perfectly. I have always had a sassy side to me (in a good, angelic way, of course) and when I run, I keep to the roads. I’m not averse to trails but I’m just not that coordinated to be running them. That’s not to say that I haven’t taken a spill or two on a neighborhood street…

Why start blogging now?

Why NOT start blogging now? In all honesty I’ve been putting this off for some time. While I can pinpoint the start of my running “career” to 2005, I really didn’t have a running epiphany until I turned 30 in 2010. I learn something new about myself everyday and what better way to share it? I hope that this blog inspires you in some small way just as you have all inspired me!

Who IS this girl?!

Let’s start out with what I am clearly not. I’m not a running expert; I’m definitely not any sort of elite athlete, nor am I a clinician of any kind. Now, to the question…

I’m a writer, lover of the outdoors, and, during the week, a nighttime runner. I’m more of a night owl than an early bird so waking up at the crack of dawn with sleep in my eyes and hair like Einstein is not the most appealing to me.(the picture I just painted for you isn’t appealing, either!) I don’t have kids unless you count the four-legged furry kind so my schedule is flexible and I can run as much or as little as I please. I am truly grateful for all life has to offer and believe that there are still so many things to uncover in this world. The opinions contained on this blog are strictly my own and the conversations are meant to be light-hearted. Life is too short to be serious all the time!

Don’t be fooled by his good looks…
… or her craftiness.

Looking forward to keeping up with you 🙂

  2. >Kristin – I'm glad you now have a blog of your own! And now that I know what you look like hopefully I will be able to see you at the Stockade-athon (even though with 1,800 participants it might be difficult).

By the way, I LOVE your dog, he is really cute!
